My Story

My name is Osunfemi and I am the creator and owner of Peacocks ‘N’ Pumpkins Botanica & Apothecary. I started this business journey in 2023, but my journey in Magick and alchemy started in the 1980s.

I was born to a mother, child of Yemonja, who was an expert astrologist and numerologist, master Tarot reader, practiced Lucumi, Hoodoo, and often traumatized me by forcing me to ride in the back seat with chickens in a box that she would take in the bathroom once home to never be seen alive again. Lol. She bestowed upon me her many Spiritual gifts, the power and talent of the calabash (Sekere), her beauty, her gorgeous, long locs, and the blessing of fertility and fruitfulness.

And to a father from Mississippi who would not allow us to split poles, sweep his feet, or not know the bible scripture by scripture, story by story. He never said it out loud, but Hoodoo was all up and through him! And he raised me up in the Spiritual, practical, and resourceful ways of a true Mississippian. Giving me the game and wisdom I needed even when I didn’t understand. To grow with me as I grew. To help me bloom into the Goddess I have come to be.

See, the story goes that my mother got a reading from a Lucumi Priestess when she was pregnant with me and that Priestess told her that she was carrying a Witch. An “Aje”, as the Yoruba say. And so it was that I ended up being born on Friday the 13th during a full moon in Virgo. Virgo… The Magician. And a Pisces… The High Priestess.

I said all of that to say that this shit is IN me, not just on me :)
